One of China’s leading beer producers, Tsingtao Brewery, is currently investigating a viral video that has stirred outrage on social media platforms. The video, which surfaced on Chinese social media last Thursday, appears to depict an individual urinating into a container of brewery ingredients.
In the video, a person donning a worker’s hard hat and uniform is seen climbing into a container at a brewery warehouse, where he appears to urinate. At this stage, it remains unclear whether the individual is an employee of the company.
Tsingtao Brewery, the second-largest beer manufacturer in China, has released a statement confirming its investigation into the matter. The brewery has specified that the incident is related to “Brewery No. 3,” located in Pingdu, Shandong province.
Local authorities have also initiated their own inquiry into the incident, in collaboration with the brewery.
Tsingtao Brewery has assured consumers that the batch of malt implicated in the video has been entirely sealed. The company has pledged to enhance its management protocols to uphold product quality and has welcomed consumer oversight in this regard.
Recognized as one of China’s largest and most internationally renowned beer brands, Tsingtao is predominantly associated with its lager products and enjoys an estimated 15% share of the domestic market. The company’s reputation and product quality are of paramount importance, and the ongoing investigation is seen as a critical step in safeguarding these standards.
