Residents in specific areas of London are expected to experience intermittent power outages as crews facilitate the transportation of oversized beer tanks through the region.
The beer tanks are en route from Sarnia’s harbor to their destination at the Labatt brewery in London. These slow-moving tank-laden trucks embarked from Sarnia on Monday and are projected to arrive in London by Tuesday afternoon.
To accommodate the substantial size of the cargo, crews will be involved in lifting, cutting, and reconnecting distribution lines along the route. Consequently, this operation will necessitate brief power outages for customers situated in the vicinity of the transport route. This information has been collectively confirmed by London Hydro, Hydro One, and Bluewater Hydro in a joint statement.
The scheduled outages are anticipated to occur between Tuesday at noon and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, affecting areas including Fanshawe Park Road West, Fanshawe Park Road East, Stoneybrook Crescent, Highbury Avenue North, Hamilton Road, and Horton Street.
Motorists navigating these routes are advised to anticipate delays. The City of London has also issued a statement, cautioning that this sizable cargo, measuring 33.53 meters in length and 6.62 meters in width, will likely occupy two traffic lanes while maintaining reduced speeds in these areas. It is advisable for drivers to consider alternative routes where possible.
Hydro authorities have noted that the specified outage start and end times provided are estimations and are subject to variation depending on customer locations and the pace of the cargo’s movement.
