Port Coquitlam Brewery Shines with Medals at 2023 Canada Beer Cup

A Port Coquitlam-based brewery achieved remarkable success, securing gold and two silvers in a prestigious national competition last month.

Boardwalk Brewing emerged victorious at the 2023 Canada Beer Cup, with the awards ceremony held on October 25, 2023, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This competition was hosted by the Canadian Craft Brewers Association.

Boardwalk Brewing, situated at 2155-575 Seaborne Ave., clinched the gold medal for its Palm Shade in the Gose category.

Furthermore, the brewery secured the second-place position for two of its creations: Dank You in the IPA category with an alcohol content of 8.1% or greater, and Black Forest in the Dunkel/Tmavý Ležák/Cerné Ležák/Schwarzbier/Black Lager category.

The coveted championship cup was awarded to Deadfall Brewing of Prince George for its Basal Brown in the American Style Brown Ale category.

Other notable winners included Blindman Brewing of Lacombe, Alberta, which received the silver medal for its Dwarf Sour Cherry Fruited Saison, and the Nelson Brewing Company, earning the bronze medal for its Loki Lager.

Boardwalk Brewing, established in 2021, had already garnered recognition earlier in the year, receiving silver at the 2023 Canadian Brewing Awards in Halifax in June for its Cotton Candy Belgian Red. The brewery is under the ownership of Phil Saxe, signifying a remarkable accomplishment in the world of craft brewing.
