Liquidity Aleworks, a Mt. Airy-based craft brewery, achieved a significant victory by winning the coveted Best in Show award at the 2023 Maryland Craft Beer Festival with their entry, “Three Minutes Later.”
This remarkable beverage initially secured a gold medal and Best in Class accolades in the American Cream Ale or Lager category. It went on to be crowned the festival’s best entry at the Canton Waterfront Park.
The first runner-up for Best in Show was Rock Bottom Brewing Company, hailing from Bethesda. Their entry, “Whiskey Barrel Aged Atom Smasher,” a barrel-aged strong ale, not only earned a gold medal at the Maryland Craft Beer Festival but had previously received recognition with a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival earlier in the year.
Securing the second runner-up position was Silver Branch Brewing Co. of Silver Spring, which impressed the judges with their “Saison, Beyond the Gnome World.” This beer had initially claimed the top honor in the French & Belgian-style Saison category.
This year’s Maryland Craft Beer Competition featured a total of 222 entries from breweries across the state. The competition underscored the remarkable talent and creativity within Maryland’s craft beer community, highlighting the industry’s thriving growth and unwavering commitment to beer quality.
