These brewing behemoths, each measuring over 33 meters in length and nearly seven meters in width, are expected to slow down traffic as they traverse from Lambton County to London. The delivery is scheduled to occur between 1 and 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Valued at a combined $13.5 million, these fermenting tanks were manufactured in Germany and transported to Canada by ship. Their land journey to London marks a vital step in the brewery’s expansion.

Hannah Love, Senior Director for External Affairs and Communications at Labatt Breweries of Canada, emphasized the significance of this expansion: “That’s our hometown brewery where we brew over 40% of Canada’s beer. So we’ve invested in these tanks to brew more beer to meet consumer demand.”

Each of these colossal tanks will contribute additional brewing capacity equivalent to six million bottles of beer.

The City of London has issued a notice to alert residents about expected traffic delays. The route will take the tanks from Fanshawe Park Road east to Highbury Avenue, then through Hamilton Road and Horton Road, Richmond Street, and eventually, Grey Street.

Despite the disruption, Love assured that the delivery is not expected to reach the brewery until nighttime. She explained, “They travel very slowly because the convoy is so large. Hence why we’ve been working with local authorities to ensure that everyone is aware of their arrival. They are expected to arrive at the brewery very late this evening or early tomorrow morning.”
