Braupakt was first produced in 2018, a collaboration between Weihenstephan and Californian craft beer pioneers Sierra Nevada. Nearly six years later, the collab is getting a sequel, a blonde ale that will be available in Australia from the middle of next year.

Made with Belgian hops, Weihenstephan yeast and Bavarian malt, the beer is brewed according to the Purity Law of 1516. Spicy with a characteristic yeasty note, Braupakt 2024 is fruity and strong with an ABV of 6.5%.

The Weihenstephan and St. Bernardus breweries already have something in common. The faces of both breweries are monks, and the two historical figures appear on the beer’s label, which shows the two monks taking a first sip of the blonde ale.

Marcus Englet, Head of Export at Weihenstephan Brewery, is delighted with the result of the collaboration. “With Braupakt 2024, we have succeeded in creating a first-class collaboration: a beer based on a Belgian style, created not only with ingredients from both countries, but also with the great expertise of two brewing philosophies”.

The beer will be available in Australia through importer Phoenix Beers. Consumers will find it in specialist outlets.
