Batemans Brewery, marking its remarkable 150th anniversary milestone, emerges with a fresh identity alongside the launch of a new signature beer, the light amber pale ale named Five Generations (5G).
Founded in 1874 in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, Batemans Brewery has remained a steadfast presence in Lincolnshire’s brewing landscape, weathering through significant historical events including two world wars, the advent of keg beer, and familial disputes that nearly resulted in a takeover.
In 2024, as the brewery commemorates 150 years of crafting beers for its loyal patrons across 51 pubs and free trade establishments, it embarks on a journey of rejuvenation by unveiling refreshed branding and pumpclips. The new logo, introduced in January, and the updated pumpclips, set to roll out this month, seamlessly blend Batemans’ rich heritage with a forward-looking approach, symbolizing its ethos of ‘Tradition with Ambition.’
While Batemans continues to brew a diverse range of specialty beers and engages in collaborative projects, such as partnerships with De Bock from Belgium and Buxton Brewery, its core cask beer lineup, comprising XB, Triple XB, and Yella Belly Gold, welcomes a new addition: Five Generations. This innovative brew pays homage to the fifth generation of the Batemans family to join the brewery fold.
Five Generations stands as a 4.2% ABV light amber pale ale, crafted from a blend of Maris Otter pale and oat malts. Delivering a velvety biscuity palate, it boasts a tantalizing hop aroma characterized by notes of peach, pineapple, mango, and passionfruit.
As Batemans Brewery embarks on its sesquicentennial journey, the introduction of Five Generations reflects its commitment to brewing excellence and honoring its rich legacy while embracing the opportunities that lie ahead in the dynamic world of craft brewing.
