Danish Whisky Producer Invites Bartenders Worldwide to Showcase Creativity
Stauning, the Danish whisky distillery, has launched its inaugural global cocktail competition, christened the Stauning Drinks Kollektive. Open to bartenders hailing from Denmark, Germany, France, the UK, the US, and Australia, this competition promises to celebrate innovation and creativity in mixology centered around Stauning whisky.
Judged by Stauning’s global brand ambassador, Ali Reynolds, alongside the distillery’s founders and esteemed industry professionals, the competition seeks entries that embody creativity and innovation while highlighting the unique qualities of Stauning whisky.
Entries can be submitted via the Stauning website until May 4, 2024. Cocktails must comprise a maximum of six ingredients, including at least one Stauning whisky variant, and align with the brand’s core pillars of design, sustainability, and locality.
The top ten entries from each participating country will advance to the regional finals, scheduled for June and July. Finalists will then embark on an all-expenses-paid trip to Denmark in September, where they will immerse themselves in the local culture, tour Stauning’s distillery near Skjern on the west coast, and vie for victory in the global final.
The ultimate champion will be rewarded with ownership of an entire cask of Stauning whisky of their choosing from the distillery’s collection, along with an exclusive invitation to serve as a judge in the 2025 competition.
Stauning’s accolades in the whisky world are not to be overlooked. In the previous year, it clinched two Gold medals at The Spirits Business’ World Whisky Masters blind-tasting competition for its Rye Maple Syrup Cask Finish and Dirty Bastard expressions. Additionally, its innovative DIY bottle design kits, introduced to address supply chain challenges, earned the Innovation in Packaging award at The SB Awards 2023.
As the influence of world whisky continues to rise, Stauning stands at the forefront, challenging conventions in established whisky regions like Scotland and the US, cementing its position as a trailblazer in the industry.
