The latest creation boasts a distinctive Courgette and Mint Gose, infused with fermented courgette juice and a delicate touch of pineapple mint. Sourcing its ingredients from Simon Rogan’s nearby farm nestled near the village of Cartmel, the beer embraces its Lake District roots.

Gose beer, characterized by its low alcohol by volume (ABV) and unique salty-sour flavor profile, provides an ideal canvas for experimental ingredients and fresh herbs. The newly introduced Courgette and Mint Gose registers at a modest 3% ABV, with its straightforward malt base allowing for the incorporation of more adventurous elements, culminating in a final touch of salt.

Liam Fitzpatrick, head chef at Our Farm, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “After an excellent harvest of courgettes, and some long hours of processing the juice from it, I am really pleased with the result.”

This innovative libation debuts during the week-long Local Heroes festival, celebrating artisans from the Lake District, running from Tuesday, April 16th, to Saturday, April 20th. The festivities will take place at Simon Rogan’s acclaimed restaurant, Rogan & Co, situated in Cartmel and proudly bearing a Michelin star.

Simon Rogan, a culinary luminary who inaugurated his first restaurant, L’Enclume, in Cartmel in 2002, has since expanded his gastronomic empire across the Lake District, garnering several Michelin stars along the way. His unwavering commitment to local and seasonal ingredients has played a pivotal role in elevating the region into a culinary hub.

Similarly dedicated to the ethos of locality and seasonality, Fell Brewery, situated in Flookborough since its establishment in 2013, continues to contribute to the rich tapestry of South Cumbria’s culinary landscape.
