La Mare Wine Estate is celebrating a remarkable achievement this week, having secured two prestigious international awards for its ciders.
At the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), La Mare received a silver medal for its Branchage Prestige Sparkling Dry Méthode Traditionnelle Fine Cider and a bronze medal for its Jersey Branchage Cider. These accolades come just a week after the estate earned a bronze medal for its Bailiwick red wine.
Both award-winning ciders are crafted from a blend of traditional cider apples, including rare heritage Jersey varieties cultivated at the estate. These ciders capture the essence of the island’s orchards, showcasing the diversity of local produce.
The innovative approach to wine and cider making at La Mare is led by Head Winemaker Jordi Sanvicens Moreno and Vineyard Manager Andrew Smith. Moreno praised the ciders as “a genuine tribute to our terroir and the meticulous craftsmanship of La Mare Wine Estate.” Smith highlighted the estate’s holistic process, stating, “Every step, from planting to bottling, takes place right here. This means that we can ensure meticulous control over the quality of our products at every stage of the process.”
Tim Crowley, Managing Director of La Mare Wine Estate, expressed his immense pride in the team’s achievements. He emphasized the significance of the IWSC recognition, noting that it significantly enhances La Mare Wine Estate’s reputation as a reputable artisan producer on the global stage.
