Suntory Holdings, the parent company of Suntory Global Spirits, has refuted recent claims suggesting early discussions regarding the potential acquisition of Boston Beer Co (BBC).
Amid rumors circulating in the media, alleging that Japan’s Suntory Holdings was in preliminary talks for a possible takeover of the “Samuel Adams” owner, which boasts a market value of approximately $3 billion, Suntory Holdings has firmly denied such discussions.
While both companies share a collaborative history, with Suntory Holdings announcing a strategic partnership with BBC in 2021, aimed at incorporating Suntory-owned spirits into BBC’s portfolio of Ready-to-Drink (RTD) offerings and for its Truly Voda line released in 2022, Suntory Holdings has distanced itself from the speculated acquisition reports.
Although the purported acquisition could potentially provide Suntory Holdings with a stronger presence in the US beer market, the company has emphasized its stance against the alleged discussions.
