Brisbane Airport is set to become a hub for beer enthusiasts with the introduction of a new brewery, distillery, and beer garden. The project, a collaboration between Brisbane-based Green Beacon Brewing Company and Golf Central, is part of the US$18 million Landers Pocket development. This development will also feature a new sports and entertainment precinct, including an outdoor amphitheatre, padel tennis courts, and golfing ranges.
Green Beacon Brewing Company will manage the brewery and distillery, while Golf Central will expand its sports recreation offerings, adding a second mini-golf course and multiple function and event spaces.
Richard Shrosbery, general manager of Green Beacon Brewing Company, described the venture as an “unbelievably exciting” progression for the company. “The new brewery and hospitality venue will ensure we get our award-winning beers into the hands of more beer lovers than ever before,” Shrosbery said.
Martin Ryan, Brisbane Airport EGM Commercial, highlighted the project’s impact, stating, “In 2025, this will be the newest venue for Brisbane to experience, injecting jobs and vibrancy into the Skygate precinct of the airport.”
This development comes at a challenging time for independent breweries in Australia, with more than a dozen facing closure over the past year. However, some are finding innovative ways to thrive, and the new brewery and distillery at Brisbane Airport could serve as a model for sustainability and success in the industry.
